France Eurovision 2021: Review - Barbara Pravi "Voilà"
Friday May 07, 2021
Friday May 07, 2021
Voilà, voilà, voilà! Barbara Pravi will represent France at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam. Will she bring her country its first song contest victory since the 1970s? The Wiwi Jury discuss. Wiwiblogger Oliver in the United Kingdom writes:
"Right from the opening line, Barbara Pravi commands attention. Even without understanding the French language, the sentiment of 'Voilà' is loud and clear. With every performance, Barbara leaves a piece of her soul on stage, showcasing raw vulnerability and creating a touching moment of intimacy between herself and her audience. And the instrumentation, though simple, is enchanting. As the chanteuse sings the 'voilà' refrain, the eerie piano echoes her vocal melody — creating a unique reference point and immersing the listener in an instant feeling of nostalgia. This is pure French excellence, and will surely see France back in the top ten."

Moldova Eurovision 2021: Review - Natalia Gordienko "Sugar"
Friday May 07, 2021
Friday May 07, 2021
The Wiwi Jury discuss Moldova's Eurovision 2021 entry "Sugar" by Natalie Gordienko. She's got Russian superstar Philipp Kirkorov and The Dream Team backing her. But will she make it through to the final on Saturday 22 May? Wiwiblogger Antranig in Australia had this to say:
"Natalia Gordienko knows I’ve got a sweet tooth and she’s setting up an all-you-can-eat dessert buffet. This song is everything it needs to be — catchy, sexy and infectious. The beat is instantly memorable and has spent many days stuck inside my head. Much like any other 'Fuego'-esque song, its success will be determined by the quality of the live performance. If Natalia nails that, there will be a 'Sugar' rush in Rotterdam."

Lithuania Eurovision 2021: Review - The Roop "Discoteque"
Thursday May 06, 2021
Thursday May 06, 2021
Lithuania's The Roop are bringing the party to Rotterdam! They're singing "Discoteque" in the first semi-final of Eurovision 2021. Will they make it through to the grand final? The Wiwi Jury dicuss. Wiwiblogger Renske in The Netherlands writes:
"It’s not a clone of its predecessor 'On Fire', and even after all these months 'Discoteque' is not getting boring. The Roop have managed to stay true to themselves without getting predictable or tacky. The lyrics are immediately understandable and fit in our current world. The fact that The Roop manages to tell you to be confident, even when you feel insecure, and still bring a funny and danceable track is amazing. While a lot of songs fall apart due to extensive symbolism, 'Discoteque' scores with strong simplicity."

Australia Eurovision 2021: Review - Montaigne "Technicolour"
Thursday May 06, 2021
Thursday May 06, 2021
The Wiwi Jury discuss Australia's Eurovision 2021 entry "Technicolour" by Montaigne. Will she make the final and keep up Australia's 100% qualification record? Wiwiblogger Antranig from down under thinks so:
"I love Montaigne's artistry, I love her refusal to do anything by the book and I love her personality, both on stage and off. 'Technicolour' is absolutely brilliant, with some clever, uplifting lyrics and some tantalising beats. This is an exceptional package and I’m so proud to have this wonderful artist representing my country."

The Netherlands Eurovision 2021: Review - Jeangu Macrooy "Birth of a New Age"
Wednesday May 05, 2021
Wednesday May 05, 2021
The Wiwi Jury review The Netherlands' Eurovision 2021 song "Birth of a New Age" by Jeangu Macrooy. Could he bring his home country a consecutive victory? Wiwiblogger Oliver in the United Kingdom had this to say:
"From the traditional to the modern, Jeangu pulls inspiration from an eclectic range of reference points, fusing genres for an altogether mesmerising experience. The composition of 'Birth of a New Age' is astounding. In parts, it’s so simple — the piano is nothing more than one note played repetitively throughout — but that’s what makes it so great. Jeangu doesn’t need huge romantic swells and embellishments to dress up his songs. His artistry speaks for itself. And lyrically, it’s perhaps one of the best tracks of the season, with a crucially important message at its core."
