Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Saturday Aug 01, 2020
Andorra is likely to return to Eurovision in 2022. That's the big takeaway from our chat with Eurovision alum Susanne Georgi, who has secured a verbal agreement from Andorra's government for the country's comeback. Although this is not officially official and in writing, Susanne is confident and so are we. Why aren't they returning to Eurovision in 2021? Because the Covid-19 pandemic isn't over. Given the ongoing uncertainty, it's wise to save their investment for when they can be sure it will be put to use.

Michael Rice is "Breaking Free" on new single | Interview
Friday Jul 24, 2020
Friday Jul 24, 2020
Michael Rice wrote his new single "Breaking Free" on Christmas Eve in The Netherlands. He tells our Lucy Percy about recording during the pandemic, the song's lyrics, the pressure he felt at Eurovision and more. He says the song shows people who he really is after "All Together Now" and Eurovision 2019. He says it's more original, raw and authentic than his earlier music. Songwriters: Michael Rice, Roel Rats, Tjeerd Van Zanen and Marcia Sondeijker About the song ‘Breaking free’ is a heartfelt, motivational, uplifting classical pop track, with a twist of gospel. Get ready for an emotional trip into your soul. Don’t hold back, you’re allowed to cry this time. It’s a song about breaking away from the mould that society expects you to be. Sometimes it can be you against the world, but you gotta fight for what you believe in and you stand for, even if that means stepping into the unknown. Being that change, regardless of what people may say or think or even judge you for it. It’s all good to be scared, what you feel in your heart is the only truth.

The Netflix movie "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is filled with cameos big and small. And our William Lee Adams was thrilled to have one as himself. But rather than filming reviews in the press room or doing interviews backstage, he's in the commentary booth and appears briefly between Graham Norton's segments in the semi-finals. In this vlog he answers some of the questions y'all have been messaging us with — things like what it was like to film on set, his rainbow shirt from Topshop, meeting Will Ferrell, whether he encountered Demi Lovato, etc.

We review the Will Ferrell Netflix movie: "Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga". We react to Dan Stevens' epic performance as Alexander Lemtov, cameos from Demi Lovato and Eurovision singers Salvador Sobral, Conchita, Netta and others, William's appearance in the commentary booth, the soundtrack, our love of "Husavik", perceptions of Iceland, and, of course, choreography, production staging and other elements from Eurovision. Is it Perfect Harmony or Total Disaster?

The working title is Un Eurovision France. We react to the news and discuss what we liked and didn't like about Destination Eurovision. Are you excited for this new path forward? Are you sad Tom Leeb won't be at ESC 2021?

Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
A Eurovision 2021 rule change will allow pre-recorded backing vocals as part of a one-year trial to make the song contest more sustainable. The lead vocalist will still need to sing live. It's hoped this change will allow countries to (1) travel with smaller delegations (2) boost creativity and (3) reduce the technical pressure on the host broadcaster. We discuss the pros and cons.
